I have always had a thing for famous landmarks. Whilst not in my ‘top 3’, the Taj Mahal has always mesmerised me.
For the evening shoot we decided to enter through the ‘back entrance’ which allows you access through The Mehtab Bagh, a square-shaped garden that is the last of eleven Mughal-built gardens along the Yamuna River, opposite to the Taj Mahal. The Mehtab Bagh is often considered one of the ideal places to view the Taj Mahal, being perfectly aligned on the opposite bank.
We arrived in the late afternoon, just in time to watch the golden sun bathe the western side of the Taj with a beautiful golden hue. Whilst most tourists made a race towards the banks of the river to get an unobstructed view, I decided to hang back and scower the Bagh grounds. I was pleased with the results I got!
Arugably I found this vantage of the Taj the more impressive and satisfying than the conventional view.
